lol some people like to show off and others are happy not to.
I personally go for armours i like, sometimes if i get stuck between 2 i ask some guildies what they think looks pretty cool for my character. Also i mix and match mine, at the moment for my ele i wear ancient armour boots and legs and 15k luxon top and arms, i like how it looks :-) |

Obsidian armor has nothing to do with prestige now , trust me, i know a lotta players who just bought the gold online. To me, an individual and unique armor combination is the most prestige kind of armor. If you can make a nice combination, fishing all over guildwiki to find great pieces of an armor, then that is true prestige, although sometimes obsidian armor may have a piece or two that looks great.

Personally, I don't even bother looking at someone's armor unless they walk up to me or load by to me. Also, I said they could have other characters who used FoW while they're current character didn't... just in case you misread something. |

I gotta agree with "The Way Out" . Having more expencive items, in most cases (not always, but 80% of the time) means you are capable of earning that much cash. In order to be capable of earning that, you obviously got to be good at the game. FoW almost gives you "veteran" status. While there are lots of gold buyers (more popular in asia) , it doesnt meen every FoW was bought online. Maybe every 2 out of 10 , but you just gotta check for their titles. Leet titles + FoW usually means its Legit. You cant buy titles for cash( kind of big deal, vanquish, guardian, leg. cartog, etc)!

Who says that your armor skin determines how good you are. I've got 1k Pyromancers (or whatever it's called now) on my ele because I prefer it over the 15k set, and probably the FoW set too.
Go with what you like, if someone thinks you're a noob for having less expensive armor, ignore them. Imo anyone who brags excessively about having FoW ebayed it anyway. |

These things arent my opinion, but fact:
more expencive armor = people assume your better at game than 1k armour users. a similar situation: higher pvp rank = people assume your better at pvp than rankless user. I'm just stating what i see, i can't control what the general gameplayer thinks. Do you understand this logic? Whether you think how expensive someones armour reflects on their skill or not. The majority of guildwars players WILL pick the guy with "obsidian" armour over the non-obsidian wearer. Or the 15k over the 1k. It's called Bias, a condition ALL humans suffer from. added: Quote:
~You can't buy Skill Hunter titles, they require the user to capture the skills themselves. ~Yes, i suppose you could buy Vanquisher, i doubt any website sells vanquisher titles. But i could be wrong. ~Yes, Guardian titles could also be bought, and completed via runner. ~Allegiance titles Cannot be bought (asura, dwarf, norn, vanguard, lightbringer, sunspear, etc) They require you to get a bounty. Cannot be afk'd ~Defender of ascalon Cannot be bought ~Champion, Hero, Gladiator, Commander, and Gamer titles also cannot be bought. ~Consumable titles could be bought. ~ Kind of Big Deal can be bought, only up to a certain point. People with "God Walking amongst mere mortals", obviously couldnt have bought the title. (by "bought" , i meen through Gold websites , like Real Cash for GW cash) Last edited by kerpall; Feb 20, 2008 at 07:57 AM // 07:57.. |

All my current characters have the exact armor they want - I have MORE than enough gold for anything I want and that has nothing to do with it. Mostly it is a mix of normal and ascended armors, in no case did I prefer the Obsidian armor. If you did prefer one, then good for you - it is all personal opinion. I can't argue with that nor would I. I find some females attractive others don't, I see some globally popular females I wouldn't touch with a 50ft pole. That is how personal opinion works - the only people I feel sorry for are the ones who really like obsidian yet do not have enough time to play to grind out the gold (though I don't feel sorry enough to give you gold). If you think it somehow proves you are good (even in conjunction with a specific title)? Well then thankfully I have hench/hero to play with and can ignore you. |

Primeval with 1k Kurzick Leggins > female Ele Obs tbh
Like many have said, it depends on which class and if *you* like it or not. To me, the only Obs worth getting are male Ele, female Mes, Monk and Derv. The rest are just not that great and a waste of money. |

You have to admit, the reason we have titles is to show experience and how good we are at the game. I would consider anyone with a higher ranked title than me to be better than me anyday. Person with Legendary Guardian = better than person w/o masters (or bonus) in any of their misions? Yes! Person with FoW w/o titles = good chance they ebayed it Person with FoW w/ titles = good chance they are legit here comes the tricky part... Person w/ 15k + r1 KoBD OR Person w/ 1k + r6 KoBD ? who's better? |

I know enough people that are really good at this game but don't have any titles or lots of money, it depends if the person would want to spend time to get the titles/gold. (and most take a while) personally I don't get many titles at all unless they're really easy to get (like when cantha prot is 11/13 |

I suggest you get what you like. I think, though, that by the time you've gathered enough ectos and shards and other materials you'll also have gathered more than enough gold to buy several sets of 15k armour.
That said, I suggest that if you really like a certain set of 15k and can afford it, go ahead and get it now. You can always continue to farm for obsidian if you really want to, and by the time you've got all the materials you'll have enough gold for more elite armour anyway. Again, get what you like. There are plenty of pictures of all the armour sets available. |

Also people who say all obby armour is ugly, What was that? did i hear someone say hater? This armour is not ugly, its designed to be the best graphically so it stands out. I grinded my ass to get mine and r2 koabd, i consider myself fairly good at the game, but i know people who cant be bothered with obby armour who are better than myself at the game. Its all about personal prefference really and i think people flaming other players with 1.5k armour isnt fair. Hell i have my trusty set of 1.5k leather armour that i wear almost every second day for trapping, and i honestly think it looks well good, dyed brown on male ranger. Well this is my opinion on it all lol, feel free to criticise me ill be back on to flame you rofl |

Pretty much the only way to get obsidian in a short duration of time is either overfarming like mad, or getting lucky with some uber rare drop. I personally dislike most fow armors, the only exception being male mesmer fow. I'm a casual pvp/pve player, and there is no way i will farm to get all the recquired items. Perhaps if i get some leet shit from z chest, then i will. Till then, my 1k luxon looks just spankin'
Personal preference is the answer here. Get what you like the most, no matter the price. You may like a 1k armor more than a 15k one; it's no reason not to get it because it's not 15k. |
